Hello Librazhd
Today is the first day of the course in Librazhd, a small town in eastern Albania with a population of around 13,000.

According to the list, 13 children have registered. Some don't show up, but others do, so we end up with 14 children between the ages of 8 and 12, which makes me very happy. I introduced myself with a few pictures and also showed how iSTEP came about. I also mentioned the goals of iSTEP and the five rules we work by. Then we turn on the laptops and get started. First, we create a simple folder structure on the memory stick so that the course documents can be stored in a specific location. This is followed by the first steps with Calc, the Excel variant of Libre Office. We use Libre Office so that we don't have to pay any license fees and can work independently of an internet connection.
The first block of lessons lasts two hours, and at the end of this first session, everyone can create an addition with Calc and save the worksheet for the next day of class on a memory stick. I am very pleased with the kids' interest and motivation. Thanks to the energetic support of the three helpers, the start of the project was a complete success. I am writing this first post in front of the hotel at 33 degrees Celsius and am now looking for some cooling off in the air-conditioned hotel room.
